My Mayoral Vote
I have met most of the candidates for mayor and each one has something to offer.
They all bring ideas to the table that would be an asset to our city.
The ones that I have personally met are good people.
That being said, we need a good person in the Mayors office who is also qualified. Right now we need someone who is going to be able to slide into the seat and get to work. With so much going on in this city from the economy to crime we have to have someone who knows how to handle it. The next mayor has a full plate already waiting for them. We have to elect someone who has already been apart of the goings on of city hall and understands what can and can't be done. I personally think that person is Gallo.
Is this my public endorsement of Gallo for Mayor? I've had his sign in my yard for weeks now so I think I've already done that. Do I support him because he is being backed by the WFP? If you've read my previous blog then you already know my opinion on that. I'm supporting Gallo because I feel as though he will do what's right by us. I believe that he's in it for all the right reasons and that is very important to me.
If any of you have ever had a conversation with him then you know it's an actual conversation. You don't walk away feeling as though you were being talked to, or down to, or that he was feigning interest in what you had to say. Like the rest of us he comes from a family that has had to work hard for what they have achieved. This is what our city needs right now, someone who knows where we are coming from. Who understands that the majority in this city work hard everyday to put food on the table and clothes on our children's backs. Someone who gets that raising a family these days is challenging. He's worked with people and families in this city and has a real connection with them. Having a Mayor that can effectively work with everyone in the city including it's citizens is going to be what turns things around. Having someone who is willing to put the people first will be like a breath of fresh air in city hall.
So I there you have it, my public, in my own words endorsement of who I personally think our next mayor should be.This is how I honestly feel about Mr. Gallo and the reason that he has my vote.

I like Gallo... but I've had much more dealings with Hayes, I've seen him at meetings and of course at the common council... it's not an easy choice... between andi and hayes and gallo, we should get ourselves a good mayor. but not if we keep silent when they screw up. Not when we don't lean on them for not doing more... then we get a Sottile, and we reelect a Sottile... we're only getting a choice because he stepped down...
Well, against Polacco, sure. But in my conversations with Gallo, they were very amicable until I differed with him in some comments about his legal position. He did not respond to my note, and I was surprised to find him angry, cold and distant next time we came in contact... I had to ask for an explanation... well, if I weren't solidly for him, he was uninterested in discussion. And I see is indeed prone to use his legal understanding to be far too conservative and stops himself before he can begin to work for the people... he far too well "understands" legal restrictions. And what I've heard about him, shouting match on Broadway defending Jeremy Blaber... this ain't gonna be good. Maybe better than Sottile. But not excellent. He does not present as an excellent mayor.
I think Gallo is going to make some positive changes in this city. He's very down to earth and is going to get straight to work.Hayes in my opinion is a truly great guy. I've spoken to him on multiple occasions and most of the time find myself wanting to give him a hug. He is just a sweet and mannered gentleman.
As for a shouting match on Broadway in defense of a friend, I have a feeling my own friends would care enough to defend me and would probably do the same. People are still people even those who run for office :)
